Alexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player, is a striker with San Diego Wave FC (NWSL), which is the top division of women's soccer in the United States. She also co-captained the United States women's soccer team from 2018 until 2020 along with Megan Rapinoe as well as Carli Lloyd. [8][98][9] Morgan was drafted as the number one player in the Western New York Flash's 2011 WPS Draft shortly after she graduated early from University of California, Berkeley. Morgan played for the California Golden Bears. Morgan made her professional debut there and was integral in helping the team win the league championship. Morgan was 22 years old at the time and the youngest member of the national team in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team came in second. She scored the winning goal in the match against Canada during the 123rd minutes of the semi-final at the 2012 London Olympics. She ended 2012 with 28 goals and 21 assists along with Mia Hamm as the only American woman to score 20 goals and provide 20 assists within the same calendar year . making her the sixth and the youngest U.S. player to score 20 goals in a single season. She was then named U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of Year and was also a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan played a role in helping the United States win the title at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups. She was also named to the Dream Team. In 2019, Morgan won the Silver Boot.
